UK equities rose over the week after positive economic news from the US boosted market sentiment.US equities rose over the week as solid economic data improved investor hopes of a sustained recovery. Jobs data releases indicated that weekly unemployment claims were better than the market expected.

UK equities fell over the week in spite of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee deciding to increase its quantative easing programme by £50bn, whilst leaving interest rates unchanged at 0.5%.
UK and Global Markets had a positive month as company news and global data, particularly on employment, was better than expected, although uncertainty around the European debt crisis persisted.
